Job Purpose: Manages the daily operations of an RD&T Engineering group, supervises employees, and implements engineering strategies to ensure sound engineering procedures and customer satisfaction, and to achieve growth and excellence in the design and manufacture of products to meet the challenges of an ever-changing environment. Responsibilities: Leads and manages the RD&T team to achieve the global business target of the company. Manages team capability and capacity including assignments, training, leave management, and continuous performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization. Manages the assigned product and technology development projects to ensure and contribute to a commercially successful product launch. Develops and secures company intellectual property and technical content (white papers, tech briefs) through documentation, disclosure filings, and training. Develops and executes the design process, material costing & quoting, analysis, and scheduling for mechanical parts design and fabrication. Evaluates departmental & personnel performance, makes recommendations, implements improvement plans, and directs engineers in their professional development. Responsible for the team budgets and monitors the monthly results of the team and expenses, compliance, and participation in all Smiths Interconnect’s EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training requirements. Suggests and supports changes to systems, tools, and processes to optimize overall business performance. Provides proposals to broaden and/or deepen core competencies biased towards top-line growth. Works with Operations to implement manufacturing processes into new design, technology, and product development. Assures new designs are manufacturable to meet business needs. Collaborates with Sales, Marketing, and Operations on product lifecycle management and is the final decision-maker for changes to existing product design. Collaborates with Sales and Marketing to assist with technical content provided to the customer. This includes, but is not limited to, literature requests, data drawings, mounting procedures, application information, and bid support for new design opportunities. Collaborates with shared services to improve organizational efficiencies and expand capabilities. Qualifications

Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical with Mechanical practice) required; higher degree education is preferred; 10+ years of related experience. Generates, manages, and provides guidance in the development of technology and product roadmaps based on knowledge of the market/customer base requirements. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; self-directed and able to work under limited supervision. Maintains a high-performance team operating in a multicultural global environment. Core competencies include leadership in management, the ability to partner effectively with key stakeholders and suppliers, and mechanical design technical skills. Proven track record managing both direct staff as well as working in cross-geographical organizations. Self-motivated with the ability to work across globally diverse organizations with a track record of significant results. Highly effective at communicating both written and verbally, such as project status, to all levels of management, including customers. Proven ability to successfully manage projects from order receipt to delivery to meet aggressive schedules. Proficient in English written and oral skills. Flexible schedule required for an international RD&T group. Up to 20% travel may be required, including international travel. Experience with SolidWorks 3D modeling software or equivalent, FEA (mechanical, electrical) analysis, and understanding of GD&T, ANSI/ASME standards. Experience with Six Sigma or equivalent LEAN tools is a plus. Travel %:
