The Clinical Pharmacist III Acute Care works in a specialized inpatient pharmacy area. This role works with minimal supervision to provide patient care in their specialty area, engage with providers, nursing, and pharmacy staff and may supervise patient advocates and/or pharmacy technicians.
Interprets and follows physician instructions to deliver the correct care to the correct patient.
Oversees and verifies prescription order entry, packaging, and dispensing.
Provides and monitors pharmacy driven protocols, drug utilization and medication-related information to healthcare professionals, patients and the public.
Supervises pharmacy technicians.
Precepts students and residents.
Collaborates with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, to optimize medication therapy and ensure patient safety.
Functions at a higher knowledge base and competency and spends the majority of time addressing complex situations or works on project improvement initiatives.
Performs other duties as required or assigned. EDUCATION: Required: Doctor of Pharmacy or BSPharm
EXPERIENCE: Required: 6 years
