Production Coordinator
KET is Kentucky's only statewide media organization, serving more than two million people each week with programs and services that educate, inform, and inspire. As the Production Coordinator, the individual selected for this role will prepare the daily production schedule for personnel, facilities, and vehicles.
Our ideal Candidate will:
Prepare the daily production schedule for all KET technical crews including video, audio, editing, studio engineering, and graphics personnel, ensuring an accurate and up-to-date record. Distribute the daily production schedule to all appropriate KET staff, via digital scheduling platform. Coordinate freelance personnel scheduling, invoice review and routing for payment.
Oversee the rental and maintenance of KET vehicles based at the Network Center and Louisville facilities. Maintain accurate record of vehicle maintenance and submit appropriate purchase orders.
Assist in assembling, striking, and storing studio sets. Assist in the set-up and striking of production-truck equipment including cameras, cable runs, and camera platforms. Work with producers, directors, contract lighting directors, and set designers in development of sets, staging concepts, and props.
Operate professional studio and field cameras for live and recorded productions. Work independently and with direction from Producers and Directors to create high quality video and accomplish KET production goals. Contribute to and execute the creative and editorial vision of KET productions.
Floor direct, operate teleprompter, and perform other production duties as needed.
Help clean and maintain studio and production equipment. Act as a grip or lighting assistant as required. Drive and help clean production vehicles as needed.
Offer logistical leadership to productions. Effectively collaborate with team members on equipment by sharing skills, knowledge, and production processes. Seek and participate in training opportunities related to production, videography, editing or other processes as applicable.
Demonstrate dedication to diversity in areas of responsibility and instill the same dedication in staff.
Successful applicants will have the following minimum qualifications, skills, and experience:
Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in television studio production and coordination preferred. Experience in coordinating studio operations will substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
Must be able to work under deadline pressure in an efficient, creative, and positive manner.
Must have strong computer, writing, communications, and professional interpersonal skills.
Must be available on a flexible schedule and for weekend and overnight travel.
Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times.
Must be able to move/lift/carry equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally required to operate equipment while standing/sitting for extended periods of time.
Must maintain a valid driver's license to drive KET vehicles.
