The ODC is responsible formaintaining donor records, gathering and providing information in regard tofamily status to assist the Donation and Family Advocate (DFA), participatingin case start up, pre-OR preparation and OR documentation. The ODC is alsoresponsible for postmortem care and other associated duties while in the OR,assisting donor program development with post-donor hospital communication,providing donor family support, and communication in conjunction with donorfamily advocate services. Skills: Clinical Skills • Demonstrates an understanding of the legal and hospitalrequirements for death declaration and organ donation. • Demonstrates proficiency in physical exam and physicalassessment (ODC II only) On-call Requirements Shares 12-hour "on-call" responsibility with other organ donation staff as determined by on-call schedule. Ability to fulfill all on-call obligations; case work up to 12+ consecutive hours in levels of high donor/referral activity. Owns or has unlimited access to a motor vehicle while on call. Will require occasional out of town travel. Physical Demands: Moderate physical effort. (move/lift/carry up to 50 pounds) Frequent prolonged standing/walking. Work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching and handling (seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with hands). Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients, supplies and equipment. Possible mental and visual fatigue associated with detailed work and extended driving. Receive detailed information through oral and auditory communication. MinimumEducation and Experience: Associate Degreein Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN Master'sDegree in Transplantation and Donation Sciences Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP); with 2years direct clinical experience in critical care or emergency/pre-hospitalcare. Certification/License Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT),Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP), or licensure in nursing preferred. BasicLife Support (BLS)
