Job Description
Position Overview: Under general medical and technical direction of a duly licensed physician, with considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgement, performs the following functions and activities: Responsibilities: May be assigned duties and responsibilities of immediate supervisor in his/her absence on a temporary basis Plans and coordinates patient-care activities Assists in the planning, development, data collection and coordination of the department's QA. Program Identifies performance-improvement issues Provides in-service training to all disciplines as necessary Participates in providing family/patient education Assist in developing the skills of staff and performs staff evaluations Reviews patients' charts Performs patients' assessment Administers air/oxygen and medications modalities Performs ventilator-care modalities Performs blood-gas analysis CPR/intubations Attends interdisciplinary rounds Performs the function of electronic documentation Performs any other related functions
Minimum Qualifications 1. Graduation from an Associate Degree program in Respiratory Therapy approved by the New York State Board of Education or a program determined equivalent in accordance with the Commissioner of the State Board of Education's regulations; and, 2. Possession of a current license to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in the State of New York; and, 3. Possession of current registration as a Respiratory Therapist issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
