JOB SUMMARY: The Driver II safely operates transportation vehicle(s) for the purpose of the pickup and delivery of passengers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES: The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the tasks performed within this classification with or without an accommodation. Must provide safe and reliable transportation to consumers for assigned routes Must provide and demonstrate excellent defensive driving skills to maintain focus on the safety of passengers Must provide excellent customer service to clients and customers Must assist with passenger loading and unloading from vehicle when necessary Ensure on-time pick-up and drop off consumers Familiarity with the main roadways and major highways in the service area Ability to understand highway traffic signs, signals, maps, manifests, and schedules Complete thorough vehicle pre-trip, post-trip, and DVI inspections as required Familiarity of FTA and DOT regulations Complete paperwork as required Ability to speak, read and write the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, dispatchers, and consumers Must be receptive to the requests of his/her supervisor, dispatcher and scheduler Show willingness to follow the instructions of his/her supervisor and dispatcher Maintain open lines of communication with supervisory personnel Attend daily scheduled shifts with no more than 2 same day call offs in a six (6) month period Maintains clear disciplinary record The ability to comply with the regulations requiring a workplace of dignity and respect and equal employment opportunity compliance The ability to work collaboratively with others and to accept constructive criticism from supervisors and managers Willingness to abide by the company's published rules and regulations Perform additional duties as assigned or required KNOWLEDGE AND JOB SKILLS: Must consistently exhibit defensive driving skills. Performs the safe and efficient operation of all department vehicles.
PERSONAL QUALITIES: Displays calm and courteous behavior during all interactions with passengers. Is willing to assist co-workers and/or department in order to provide quality service in a timely manner.
JUDGMENT/DECISION MAKING: Utilizes established corporate policies and procedures in making decisions. Uses sound judgment in meeting the responsibilities and performing the duties of the position.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. Experience: Must be Over the age of 21 Minimum of 5-years driving experience Possess a continuously valid US Driver's license for the past three years, from date of issue Must Have a class C License with Passenger Endorsement (CDL) Safe driving record TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT: Completes all requirements according to Individual Training Plan within the first six months of hire and annually. Other training and/or professional development may be assigned due to evolution of programs.
