Nurse Specialist- Angio !

Responsibilities

The Angio-Specialist will be proficient in-patient assessment and be competent in the management of patient's Cardiovascular patients, which included the vascular interventional radiology population, before, during and after their procedures. The Angio-Specialist will also be required to take an "on call schedule during non-operational hours of the lab to provide coverage for emergency cases. When assigned the charge role the Angio-Specialist will coordinate the operating schedule and supervise unit activities. In addition, he/she will provide supervision of non-RN personnel. Assess patient's physical and psychosocial condition throughout the continuum of care. Provide care for patients pre, intra and post procedures for all cardiac and vascular procedures Develop and communicate patient plan of care reflecting patient issues and proposed interventions to achieve desired patient outcome Collaborate with patient, family and healthcare team in implementing plan of care Evaluate patient outcomes, effectiveness of plan of care and readiness for discharge and/or continuing care. Revise plan of care as needed and appropriately refer for additional services where indicated. Provide education as indicated after assessing the learning needs of the patient and family. Participate in and support performance improvement and risk management activities. Act as preceptor to new staff when requested. Responsible for taking on call per department's needs. Proficient in the management patients undergoing cardiac, peripheral vascular and Interventional Radiology procedures. Proficient in the management of elective and emergency procedures. Basic Electrophysiology. Competent in the administration of Moderate sedation Competent in utilizing the Hemodynamic System for monitoring and documentation purposes. Competent in the use of the AVOX, ACT machine and the Balloon Pump. Maintain par levels of supplies collaborative with Cardiovascular Technologists. Competent in the use of IVUS Competent in the use of Pressure Wire (FFR) Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut. BCLS and ACLS required Moderate Sedation Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience. Maintain a minimum of 6 contact hours annually.
