The
Senior System Administrator (Linux) (Night Shift)
supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
Description of Duties:
Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems. Ensure system changes are completed in accordance with developer documentation, configuration management and documentation practices. Utilize and follow developer-provided documentation to build and configure server/system hardware and software to baseline specifications. Research technologies and leverage optimization techniques to ensure systems operate efficiently. Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions. Assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis as needed. Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts. Make recommendations to plan, develop and execute work plans that achieve critical-path requirements. Collaborate and communicate with internal and external team members and customers as needed. Identify developer-documentation errors and provide to appropriate channels / personnel for correction. Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problem and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems. Occasional off shift, extended or weekend support may be required. Occasional local travel may be required to support off-site customers and projects. Basic Requirements: Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 8 years of general experience; Associates degree and 6 years of general experience; Bachelors degree and 4 years of general experience; Masters degree and 2 years of general experience Must have 8 years of directly related experience in IT systems, installing and configuring operating systems and virtual machines, and troubleshooting Must have 2 year of experience working in a management or leadership role Must have experience building, configuring and deploying servers/systems using VMware 7.0 (or higher) Must have administration experience on RHEL 7 and 8 using Command Line Interface Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ Desired Requirements:
Have experience working with Ansible automation Have experience configuring and managing NetApp storage devices Have network troubleshooting experience Have experience implementing Multi Factor Authentication methodology Have experience with HP server hardware Have Project Management experience Degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline
