General Description:
HRL is seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to join the Special Programs IT team in Malibu, CA. The successful candidate will collaborate with other systems administrators located in Malibu and at various locations throughout the United States. A willingness to continue learning new technologies is a must. An active Secret clearance and experience in classified programs is required. Essential Duties:
Work with multi-disciplined team members under general supervision Provide a friendly and professional point of contact for customers Perform independent troubleshooting of complex incidents Perform a multi-disciplined range of technical system and application activities Install, configure, and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components Administer and manage Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments Administer installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management Resolve a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems Perform system and user account maintenance Test and assess security configuration of Windows servers Monitor, evaluate, and optimize system performance Analyze, test, and implement security patches and hardening Document maintenance & ticketing actions Develop and promote standard operating procedures and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines If required, assist in IT security incident response and documentation Required Skills:
Experience in Windows systems administration Understanding of multiplatform system hardening (e.g., DISA STIG, SCAP) Strong understanding of VMware vSphere virtual environments Experience with scripting for task automation (e.g., PowerShell, Batch, BASH) Proficient knowledge of cyber security technology and trends (e.g., Tenable, McAfee, Splunk) Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (e.g., switching, routing, firewalls, load balancing) Experience with system monitoring & alerting tools (e.g., Nagios) Experience working within an accredited system Ability to work independently An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance Preferred Skills:
Minimum 7 year of experience in a related role A Top Secret/SCI security clearance with in-scope polygraph is preferred Experience in multiplatform systems administration (Windows and Linux) is desired Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 configuration, management, and troubleshooting Understanding of Group Policy management Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (8, 9) Some experience with SAN management (e.g., NetApp, Dell Unity, HPE GreenLake) Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (i.e., Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops) Exchange Server 2019 configuration, management, and troubleshooting Experience with systems management and automation software e.g., (Endpoint Configuration Manager, Satellite, Ansible, Systems Center Orchestrator) Experience in multiplatform environments (Windows and Linux) Experience with High Performance Computing Required Education:
High School diploma/GED with 7+ years of experience in a System Administration role or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Special Requirements:
This position is 100% on-site. Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases, with little to no advance notice. This job will also require up to 10% travel. This position requires that the applicant selected be a U.S. citizen and possess an active Secret security clearance. The applicant must also be willing to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph. This position requires that the applicant obtain a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II (or higher) certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CISSP) within 6 months of hire. As part of your role/function on the program, you will be granted privileged user access, which is subject to greater scrutiny as a direct result of the significant responsibilities. Please be aware that because of these critical duties, you will be subject to additional IT system monitoring and supervisory evaluation to ensure continuous adherence to Privileged User processes and procedures. Privileged Users are subject to a zero-tolerance policy for security violations. Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $109,695 - $137,145 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
