II. QUALIFICATIONS:
A. High School Diploma. B. Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed. C. Patient, yet firm. D. Able to work and communicate with staff, students, and the public. E. Able to perform assigned duties. F. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory. G. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. H. Must have 32 college credits or pass the ETS Para Pro Exam
III. REPORTS TO: Building Administrator.
IV. JOB GOALS:
To work with individual students on a one on one basis or in small group settings within the general education classroom to help the teacher provide a well organized, smoothly functioning class environment in which a student can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource material.
V. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Prepares classroom activities for the assigned student under the supervision of a certified teacher. B. Works individually or with small groups of students to reinforce materials initially introduced by the teacher. For example:
1. Assists in drill work. 2. Assists with adapted curriculum. 3. Assists small groups of students in library, computer, etc.
C. Assists individual students in need of special attention. D. Assists in data collection of student's progress. E. Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the teacher. F. Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom duties, such as snack, toilet, and clothing routines. G. Helps adapt curriculum and supplementary materials for use in the classroom. H. Strives to improve and maintain job skills through inservice training programs and other means. I. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality. J. Has regular and predictable attendance.
VI. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Performs all other duties as assigned.
VII. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The exact terms will be determined by the needs of the schools and budgetary constraints.
This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time, or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 251.
