Reports to: IT Director

Position Summary: The Senior Network Engineer will take ownership of our entire network infrastructure, serving as the lead networking expert & primary subject matter expert on a small infrastructure team. This position requires hands-on expertise across wired and wireless networking, cloud integration, and modernizing legacy systems. The ideal candidate will be both strategic and tactical, helping rebuild our network from the ground up while maintaining production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the evaluation and potential overhaul of our firewall strategy (currently using WatchGuard firewalls). Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute a forward-looking network roadmap. Maintain and optimize existing HP Aruba switches, VLAN configurations, and WAN architecture. Design, deploy, and manage enterprise grade wireless networking solutions. Ensure seamless integration with our primarily Windows and VMware environment. Support deeper adoption of Azure and other SaaS/PaaS solutions, ensuring robust and secure cloud network integration. Assess, troubleshoot, and modernize legacy hardware acquired through mergers and acquisitions. Transition older systems to meet current organizational standards while minimizing disruptions to production. Monitor and ensure network uptime, reliability, and performance during ongoing upgrades and transformations. Collaborate with IT and security teams to maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Develop & maintain detailed documentation for network configurations, processes, and projects. Provide mentorship and knowledge sharing to team members as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent experience. 7+ years of progressive experience in network engineering, with exposure to network architecture level responsibilities. Required Skills:

Extensive experience with WatchGuard or comparable firewall technologies. Experience with MFA & network authentication security. Ability to incorporate network security & cyber security best practices Proficiency in HP Aruba switches, VLAN management, and WAN optimization. Expertise in wireless networking, including design, deployment, and troubleshooting. Strong background in cloud networking, particularly Azure, and integration with SaaS/PaaS platforms. Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VPNs, and SDWAN technologies. Familiarity with Windows and VMware environments. Ability to diagnose and modernize legacy hardware and systems. Strong problem solving skills, with the ability to design solutions for both legacy and cutting edge technologies. Excellent communication skills, capable of working with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Self-starter with a proactive and strategic mindset, comfortable being the sole network engineer in a small team.

Physical/Mental Demands: Position requires a high degree of concentration to manage frequent interruptions while meeting strict deadlines. This position requires the ability to perform duties using both typical office equipment such as computers, cell phones, and printers as well as the ability to communicate and perform tasks in an office environment. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
