Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
or Physician Assistant
with Mental Health Nursing experience to join our
Assertive Community Treatment Program (ACT) . In this role, you will work with adults experiencing substance use disorder (SUD), serious mental illness (SMI), and co-occurring conditions, contributing to their recovery and well-being.
Responsibilities:
Provide medical and clinical services to Behavioral Health adult clients including psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health and substance use disorders. Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, ensuring appropriate treatment adjustments as needed. Order and interpret laboratory tests and EKGs for screening and diagnosis, referring clients to specialized medical and clinical services when necessary. Prepare medical justification and documentation for clients to obtain prescribed medication, assist in applying for patient assistance programs, and manage prescriptions in accordance with financial status. Manage a patient caseload, providing necessary documentation for medical direction and supervision, including chart reviews and outcome assessments as required by the Virginia Board of Nursing and Board of Medicine. Conduct Tardive Dyskinesia screening as appropriate and provide health maintenance counseling, health promotion, illness prevention, and medication management education to clients. Travel to and perform duties at several department locations within the City as needed. Provide consultation and training to nursing, clinical, and administrative staff, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
