IT PACS Administrator

Position Purpose:
The PACS Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and management of multiple Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) used to store, retrieve, manage, and distribute medical images. This role ensures that all PACS systems are functioning efficiently and securely, meeting the needs of healthcare providers and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Please note you will be required to travel to all of our health centers (Queens, Brooklyn, Midtown, and Harlem)
Position Qualifications:
System Maintenance and Management: Oversee the daily operations of PACS systems, including monitoring server performance, data storage, and backups Ensure system uptime, troubleshoot any issues and work with the IT department for technical support as needed Perform software updates, system upgrades, and apply security patches to keep the PACS system secure and up-to-date Data Management:
Manage the storage and retrieval of medical images and associated data, ensuring that images are stored in compliance with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, etc.) Optimize database and storage space usage, implementing data archiving strategies Ensure proper indexing and organization of images to facilitate easy access for healthcare providers. User Support and Training:
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for users, including radiologists, physicians, and technicians. Train staff on how to use the PACS systems efficiently, ensuring they are aware of best practices and workflows. Manager user access permissions, ensuring that only authorized personnel have access to sensitive data. System Integration:
Ensure integration of PACS with other systems, such as RIS (Radiology Information Systems) and EMR (Electronic Medical Records). Troubleshoot integration issues and collaborate with vendors and other departments to resolve any technical problems Ensure DICOM standards are adhered to for medical imaging and communication Compliance and Security:
Monitor and enforce policies to ensure data security and patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and other relevant laws and regulations Implement disaster recovery plans and data redundancy measures to protect against data loss Regularly audit PACS usage and access to ensure proper compliance with internal and external regulations Performance Optimization
Conduct regular performance reviews of PACS systems, analyzing data flow, storage utilization, and user feedback to identify areas for improvement Make recommendations for system improvements, upgrades, or changes to enhance performance and workflow efficiency Vendor and Software Management:
Liaise with PACS vendors and third-party service providers to manage support contracts, software upgrades, and hardware procurement Track warranty and support timelines, ensuring the timely renewal of licenses and service agreements Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
Respond to system outages, hardware failures, and data integrity issues swiftly to minimize downtime and operational disruptions Collaborate with technical support teams for timely resolution of issues Additional Duties as Required:
Support of Dental EDR, Dentrix Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field; or equivalent work experience Proven experience in PACS administration or similar role American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) certification, such as CIIP Experience with NovaRad and Forum a plus Working Conditions
Walking, sitting, standing for moderate periods of time Lifting of equipment up to 35 lbs Requires regular deployment to all health centers Compensation and Benefits
