Description
We’re the Devices & Services Design Group at Amazon. Our team drives design innovation, delivering Echo, Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and more. We work on the Echo Show family of products, designing on-the-go productivity and entertainment experiences. Together, we’re meeting the future head on through our Devices Human Interface Guidelines and product strategies.
We are seeking a UX Designer to help drive the vision, definition, and design of multi-modal experiences across various devices. In this role, you will significantly impact our product-level customer experience and design strategy. You'll deliver solutions for difficult design and technical problems, applying best practices to achieve optimal customer outcomes. Collaborating across teams, you'll incorporate both user needs and technical constraints into your designs. You'll improve and help adopt design patterns and processes, participate in cross-team reviews, and synthesize data to inform your solutions. Your strong communication skills will be crucial in conveying complex decisions to partners.
Key job responsibilities
Design beautiful, useful, and desirable user interfaces and experiences in a team environment
Create user-centered designs by considering market analysis, customer feedback, and usability findings
Use business requirements, user and market research to assist in developing scenarios, use cases, and high-level requirements
Design the UI architecture, interface, and interaction flow of applications and experiences
Develop conceptual diagrams, wireframes, visual mockups, click-throughs, and prototypes
Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns
Develop and maintain documentation of customer behaviors, motivations, and daily habits.
Work with project managers to plan projects for effective delivery while maintaining high standards for design
Be a passionate and effective advocate for design with non-design audiences
Write effectively to communicate design rationales and benefits to Amazon customers
Use analytics and data to drive design decision making to best serve our customers
A day in the life
You will create a variety of deliverables, including wireframes, prototypes, user-flows, high-fidelity mockups and specs to communicate design thinking to senior leadership, engineering and product partners at every phase of product development. You will collaborate on a daily basis with a world-class, multi-disciplinary team of design, product, and engineering professionals working on some of the most challenging problems at Amazon today.

You will join a team of full stack designers working across devices to deliver exception customer experiences. Customer obsession is at the core of all of our design decisions. We dive deep with product managers, designers, and engineers from various domains to learn how they are serving their customers. We work cross functionally to craft scalable, cohesive, and usable multimodal solutions for our customers. The team makes strategic decisions that allow partners to take action, move quickly, take ownership and deliver results. Basic Qualifications
6+ years of design experience
Have an available online portfolio
Experience designing and prototyping with tools such as Figma, ProtoPie, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator, InVision, or similar
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in the design thinking process
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Experience with research and human-centered design with a portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience solving complex challenges with simple user-centered design solutions
Visual design expertise demonstrated through mockups and style guides
Additional design skills in related fields, including motion design, animation, and prototyping
Experience in designing interactions for voice-led devices
Experience in designing cross platform experiences
Ability to drive and close on design requirements independently
Proficiency in presenting design work to user experience teams, product and engineering teams, and executives for review and feedback
Working knowledge of the foundations of engineering principles and how design translates into code
Proficiency with platform tools used by designers and engineers to build and deploy immersive experiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $211,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
