Driver (On-Call)

Salary Range: $17.75 to $22.50 Hourly
Wage: $17.75 (non-CDL) $22.50 (CDL with Passenger Endorsement)
Position Functions:
Responsible for safely operating vehicles to transport students to off-center appointments and other destinations as assigned.
Position Schedule:
On-Call as needed - any hours, any day or night. (Flexible schedule)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Safely operating the center's vehicles to transport students to, and from off-center appointments, and other destinations as assigned.
Check the condition of a vehicle's tires, brakes, windshield wipers, lights, oil, fuel, water, and safety equipment, to ensure that everything is in good working order.
Report any vehicle malfunctions, or needed repairs, and will comply with all traffic laws, and regulations.
Prepare and submit reports that may include the number of passengers, trips, hours worked, mileage, and/or fuel consumption.
Assist the Safety/Transportation Supervisor in routine safety duties, which include interactions with the students.
Skills & Competencies:
Good working knowledge of basic vehicle operation
Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle safety practices
Experience with visual inspection and maintenance of vehicles
Knowledge of traffic and highway safety rules and regulations
Strong attention to detail
Good decision-making skills
Effective communication skills; both verbal and written
The ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions
The ability to relate to, and to have empathy for the students
Ability to work irregular, or variating work schedules
Proficient using computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Education Requirements:
High school graduate or equivalent, and one year experience in driving passenger vehicles
Must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
