One of our clients is looking for an Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

Position Description: • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner plays a pivotal role in our FQHC, Article 28 Health Services Division and Article 31 clinic. • The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner works within an interdisciplinary team providing health care services within a community based health center, responsible for assessment, psychiatric treatment and consultation for primary health care clients responsible to assist. • This position must be able to work well in a team oriented environment and have experience working with vulnerable individuals experiencing serious and chronic mental health and addiction issues.
Essential Job Functions: • Initial and follow up psychiatric evaluations/assessments • Comprehensive mental status exams and risk assessments • Keeps Clinical Director informed of significant activities or conditions that may impact upon client level or program level operations and/or program goals. • Provides monitoring and follow-up of all referrals. • Prescribes psychotropic medication and manages psychotropic treatment as needed for enrolled clients. • Provide crisis intervention as directed or needed by Health Services providers. • Discusses and formulates Treatment Plans with clients. • Partner and collaborate with primary psychotherapist on treatment planning and treatment course. • Provide psychiatric follow up and assessments for client being provided Medication Assisted Treatment with Suboxone or Naltrexone • Writes progress notes in a timely manner (within 24 hours after session is finished). • Maintains record keeping. • Develops and implements clinical supervision for program. • Participates in the development and implementation of the quality improvement process..
Other Responsibilities: The following duties are to be performed as assigned by the supervisor: • Attends trainings and meetings scheduled by Program Manager and Managing Clinical Director. • Maybe required to work over time to provide crisis intervention to the individuals and/or families served by the program • Position Reports Clinically to Chief Psychiatrist and Administratively to Director of Clinical Services & Behavioral Health
Education and Certification: • This employee will possess, at a minimum, a Master of Science in Nursing and a post-master's certificate with license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. • The candidate will also possess 3-5 years of clinical, psychopharmacology and direct service provision with minority communities, communities at risk and families affected by HIV/AIDS, mental illness and substance abuse. • The candidate will have demonstrated didactic proficiency in group facilitation and have a comfortable working knowledge of psychopathology and differential diagnosis.
Special Skills And Knowledge: • In addition to the above-listed job responsibilities and educational requirements, the ideal candidate for this position possesses most or all of the following: • Have an above adequate knowledge of psychopathology and differential diagnoses using the DSM-5 Manual • Intermediate to advance knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook. • Bilingual (English-Spanish) is desirable. • Experience working with PLWHA population and social service systems in New York City.
