Grant Writer Job Description For Adult Education Programming (ELL, GED, and Career Certifications/Apprenticeships)
Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented grant writer to join our team. The grant writer will focus on securing funding to support adult education programming, including English Language Learners (ELL), GED preparation, career certifications, and apprenticeships. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit fundraising,adult education, excellent writing skills, and a passion for empowering adult learners.
Key Responsibilities: Research and Identify Funding Opportunities: Investigate and evaluate grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations. Apply for Hendricks County Community Foundation, Morgan County Community Foundation, Indianapolis Foundation, Colts Foundation, Indianapolis Pacers Foundation, Dollar General, and other entities. . Ensure alignment of funding sources with program goals in ELL, GED, and career development. Proposal Development and Writing: Draft compelling, tailored grant proposals that effectively articulate program needs, objectives, and anticipated outcomes. Develop clear, data-driven narratives supported by research and program metrics. Engage with Coordinator and Fiscal Lead to prepare detailed budgets, timelines, and supplementary materials to meet funder requirements. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with program staff to gather programmatic details, success stories, and measurable outcomes. Partner with finance teams to ensure budget accuracy and compliance. Engage with external stakeholders, including funders, to clarify expectations and build relationships. Grant Submission and Reporting: Manage the full grant submission process, including deadlines, formatting, and delivery. Coordinate with Fiscal Lead to ensure grant status, reporting deadlines, and renewal opportunities. Prepare and submit comprehensive post-award reports to funders detailing program impacts. Data Management and Strategic Planning: Maintain accurate records of submitted, pending, and awarded grants. Evaluate past grant performance to inform and improve future proposals. Contribute to the development of long-term funding strategies for adult education programs. Qualifications:
Indiana Teacher's license. Familiarity with adult education programming, including ELL, GED preparation, and workforce development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong research, organizational, and time management abilities. Proficiency in grant management software and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
