Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial/Civil (familiar with all aspects of Civil) Estimator to join our team. This individual will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for commercial and civil construction projects. The estimator will analyze project requirements, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to winning bids and successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Evaluation:

Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand project scope and requirements.

Conduct site visits, when necessary, to gather information on project conditions.

Cost Estimation:

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor expenses.

Develop and manage pricing models for various project types.

Utilize estimating software and tools to ensure precision and efficiency.

Bid Preparation:

Compile and submit competitive and comprehensive bids for commercial and civil construction projects.

Respond to bid clarifications and post-bid reviews.

Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:

Solicit and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors.

Maintain relationships with reliable vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in preparing project budgets and financial forecasts based on estimates.

Monitor market trends, including material costs and labor rates.

Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders.

Provide insights and recommendations to support project planning and decision-making.

Risk Assessment:

Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and recommend mitigation strategies.

Continuous Improvement:

Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

Seek opportunities to improve estimating processes and methodologies.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably in commercial or civil projects.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or similar).

Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and codes.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.

Soft Skills:

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.

Working Conditions:

Office-based with occasional site visits.

May require extended hours during bid deadlines or project demands.
