Employee Health Nurse - PRN Tuesdays and Fridays needed, other days as needed

The Associate Health Nurse
is responsible of the overall daily operations and functions of Associate Health Services for the facility. Coordinates pre-employment appointments, performs nursing assessments on associates, coordinates reporting and follow up for employee exposures, maintains associate health records and provides reports internally and externally as required. Stays abreast of trends and best practices and updates policies and practices in order to promote a safe and healthy work force. Creates and promotes wellness initiatives for all associates.
Duties: Audits and/or performs pre-placement health assessments and screening tests, including detailed medical/occupational history taking, tuberculosis screening, vital signs, vision testing, administration of vaccines as indicated, and lab testing. Performs periodic assessments on associates, including medical /occupational history taking, lab work when indicated, blood pressure monitoring, administration of vaccines as indicated; health promotion and counseling; and evaluation of the work environment with discussion, teaching, and follow-up as needed for workplace hazards. Interprets and evaluates historical data, laboratory reports and screening tests accurately to determine current health status, vaccine needs, freedom from communicable disease, etc... Explains abnormal reports to associates and notifies supervisors of these problems on a need to know basis. Counsels and appropriately refers associates for treatment of abnormal findings which are discovered during physical examinations and/or screening. Maintains a complete, confidential record on each associate according to established policies and procedures. Performs respiratory fit evaluations on designated associates. Administers mandatory and elective immunizations to associates, volunteers, and other outside clients in accordance with safe nursing practice. Reports to the Infection Control committee per established reporting times. Participates as a member of the Infection Control committee and implements or updates policy and procedures as it relates to the associate. Maintains current knowledge of infectious diseases and their treatment and prevention, regulatory agency requirements, hospital hazards, first aid and worker's compensation. Organizes implements and encourages Hepatitis B immunization to all associates who have contact with Blood borne Pathogens. Performs other associate health duties as assigned in order to facilitate department goals and objectives. Creates and promotes the associate wellness program. Requirements: Education requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current RN State license. Bachelors degree preferred. Work experience requirements:
Minimum of 3 years RN experience required. Previous Employee/Occupational Health experience is preferred. Required licenses/ certifications/courses
Occupational Health Nurse certification (COHN) preferred. Required skills, knowledge and abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of applicable OSHA and TJC regulations related to employee health issues. Planning and organizational skills and computer skills.
