The role will allow the employee the ability to manage his/her own portfolio of existing NY CRE Bank clients while also supporting the loan origination and cross selling efforts of Senior Relationship Managers. The candidate will have varied responsibilities, including: (a) developing, maintaining and cross-selling CRE banking relationships, (b) review and analysis on lending opportunities, and (c) structuring and closing new and existing lending opportunities.
Responsibilities
Manage a lending and deposit portfolio of existing CRE banking clients.
Act as the client's primary Bank contact and oversee the portfolio and development of the existing portfolio inclusive of loans/accounts. Review of lending transaction's credit parameters, loan documentation, and other reports related to CRE transactions as well as managing the account from origination through loan closing. The Associate RM will be responsible for overseeing the portfolio through loan maturity with the help and support of the NY CRE Portfolio Management team. Present to Senior Management new and modification approvals and portfolio updates. Participate in business development efforts: you will have a quantitative production goal inclusive of long-term renewals within your existing portfolio. However, Senior lenders / Management will provide deal flow and you will not be expected to source your own deals so there will be no new client acquisition targets for this role.
Will partner with more senior CRE Relationship Managers on larger more complicated transactions and have the ability to further develop senior RM skills.
Assist with all aspects of relationship/loan life cycle functions including but not limited to deal screening, term sheet preparation, negotiation and loan closing process. Preparation of cash flow modeling scenarios. Recommending competitive loan structures with thoughtfulness and creativity

Asset class/Loan Types:
Work with multitude of asset classes including but not limited to multifamily, retail, office, industrial and hotel. Evaluate different loan types including land, construction, bridge and stabilized properties. Preferred prior experience in construction and/or bridge lending
Understanding of Bank Policies, compliance and regulatory standards. Work closely with the Portfolio Management team on loan modifications, waivers, and lease approvals Develop strong cross-functional relationships across the Bank, so that you can better serve clients. Interface closely with the Bank's credit and underwriting functions, to move transactions through the internal approval process Maintain strong dialogue and relationship with Bank's outside counsel and vendors that serve the Banks's client base. Take an increasingly active role in the negotiation of loan documents. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with preferred but not required concentrations in finance, economics, real estate, accounting or related subjects. Minimum 3-7 years of experience in commercial real estate lending or investment Strong analytical and computer skills with a thorough knowledge of Excel including the ability to perform cash flow analyses and create financial models. Working knowledge of Argus a plus. Desire to work at a high level, learn, take ownership of assigned tasks, and work extended hours as necessary; and Highly motivated, quick learner Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Team player - positive can-do attitude Sophisticated financial skills, quantitative underwriting skills, and a capital markets perspective with ability to structure loans to achieve Bank's investment requirements.
