Under general supervision, the Accountant, Sr. – Financial Reporting is responsible for various duties primarily related to periodic filings with the SEC, monthly and quarterly close processes, and other technical accounting matters. The pay range for this position is between $79,040 and $93,860 annually based on a full-time schedule. Please note that the annual salary information is a general guideline, and that annual salary will vary depending on your location and that Berry Corporation (“Berry”) will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope of responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considers when extending an offer. This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units, excellent benefits including full health benefits, 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting, tuition reimbursement, 9/80 flex schedules, and generous paid time off.

Key Accountabilities
Financial Reporting
- Supports the preparation and review of the consolidated financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, and other items included in the Company’s Form 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K and Proxy filings, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SEC rules as well as filing deadlines.
- Assists in technical accounting research.
- Works closely with cross-functional teams across the company, such as accounting, legal, finance, treasury, land, operations, internal audit, and external audit.
- Assists in the review/tie-out of the 10-Q, 10-K, Proxy, investor slides, earnings materials, and investor presentation, to ensure amounts presented are complete and accurate.
- Responsible for various SOX controls.
- Prepares non-SEC quarterly financials for internal review and external reporting. Prepares quarterly flux analysis.
- Leads or participates in special projects, as needed.
- Assists with preparation of monthly reporting package.
- Prepares journal entries for corporate accounting.
- Prepares monthly and/or quarterly account reconciliations.
- Improves manual processes through automation.
- Conducts in-depth financial analysis to identify trends, budget variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Assists the planning department with annual budgets.
- Maintains documentation of processes and procedures for SOX compliance purposes and ensures controls are consistently performed.
- Supports internal and external audits by providing accurate and timely information.
- Performs other duties, responsibilities, or projects as assigned.
- Complies with all the Company's Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
- Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, safety standards and improve job performance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
- CPA or CPA candidate required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including public accounting experience and /or working within an SEC reporting function for a publicly traded company.
- Big 4 public accounting experience preferred.
Critical:
- Advanced knowledge of SEC reporting standards and US GAAP regulations, including hands-on experience with Form 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and Proxy statement filings.
- Ability to conduct technical research and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Ability to accurately analyze and prepare complex financial statements and reconciliations.
- Skilled in identifying discrepancies, preparing flux analysis, and detecting trends to provide actionable insights.
- Ability to manage multiple high-priority projects effectively, meeting strict deadlines, and overseeing projects from inception to completion with minimal supervision.
- Skilled in streamlining accounting processes through automation to drive efficiency and reduce manual workload, while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Ability to make decisions independently with a high level of accountability and ownership in making decisions, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and independently, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Foundational knowledge in US GAAP principles and SEC filing requirements, with experience documenting complex accounting issues.
- Proven ability to communicate and work effectively across departments such as finance, treasury, legal, operations, and audit to align on reporting requirements and improve accuracy.
- Demonstrated commitment to precision in financial reporting, ensuring information presented is complete and error-free.
- Ability to navigate and adapt in a dynamic and evolving industry, handling shifting priorities and emerging regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate written and verbal and also, capable of simplifying complex financial information for various stakeholders, including auditors, internal teams, and executives.
- Experience with Workiva Wdesk or similar platforms for SEC reporting, as well as familiarity with data visualization tools for financial reporting insights.
- Background in a Big 4 accounting firm, preferred for familiarity with industry standards and high-level audit and reporting experience.
- Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset, with a focus on proactively identifying and implementing process efficiencies.
- Demonstrated capability to manage competing tasks efficiently, ensuring all projects are moving forward effectively within tight deadlines.
- Primarily office work environment.
- Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing, sitting, walking, typing, and twisting as necessary.
- May be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must follow all company safety policies, including when visiting field locations.
