Financial Analyst

SUMMARY: The Financial Analyst is responsible for establishing Budgets & Long-term Forecasts, supporting grants management, financial tracking and analysis, 401(k) plan administration, and a variety of financial tasks to ensure the financial health and administration of Esperanza's resources.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  1. Prepares annual budget and forecasts of department revenues, grant revenues and expenses, department expenses, and key performance indicators. Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities. Sets approved budgeted expenses at department and GL level.
  2. Responsible for technical assistance and general support of grants administration and financial reporting, including federal grants (such as the 330 FQHC and Ryan White Part C grants), state grants (such as the Pennsylvania Challenge Grants), and private grants. Works with project teams to develop program budgets for state and private grants.
  3. Coordinates post-award grant management functions, including account setup, invoicing, and financial reporting. Prepare and submit grant invoices, and ensure the transactions are input and reconciled in the AR module of the financial management system, Blackbaud FENXT.
  4. Prepares and submits the quarterly MCO wraparound report for submission to DHS, in collaboration with the Billing Manager.
  5. Prepares the Medicare Credit Balance Report on a quarterly basis.
  6. Sourcing data from ADP; maintains allocation of payroll expenses to grants and funding sources, as well as providing substantiation of payroll registers and timecards to grantor agencies.
  7. Assists with the monthly closing process and the preparation of monthly internal financial reports, ensuring proper recognition for medical, dental, and BHC revenue/prepares Journal Entry for Blackbaud FENXT.
  8. Reviews payroll expenses each period and prepare journal entry for entry into FENXT.
  9. Leads Operational team to track and improve payouts for Incentives with Health Partners and Keystone First.
  10. Prepare and report bi-weekly COVID testing & immunization data to HRSA.
  11. Supports the administration of Esperanza's 401(k) plan. Additional responsibilities are reviewing staff for match eligibility and supporting the annual 401k audit.
  12. Works closely with Controller and CFO to ensure that general ledger accounts are analyzed and reconciled throughout the year with data and reports from the patient billing systems, the dispensary, and other activities.
  13. Researches budget variances in conjunction with departmental managers and Finance staff.
  14. Responsible for the maintenance and tracking of financial "dashboard" indicators and other metrics to provide meaningful data for the measurement of financial performance.
  15. Maintains and provides necessary records and documentation necessary to support the annual audits.
  16. Maintains all necessary fiscal controls, policies, and procedures to ensure that funds are used for the purposes intended. Alerts Finance Director and other appropriate staff to any problems or irregularities.
  17. Maintains historical files as required by the law of all contracts, grants, invoices, payments, and receipts by vendor, lender, or donor.
  18. Conducts studies and carries out other special projects as directed by the Associate Finance Director and Finance Director.
  19. Serves as a back-up for the Staff Accountant, Associate Finance Director, and Finance Director as needed.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
  • 5-to 7 years of accounting experience required
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask; attention to detail, precision, and accuracy working with figures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Must speak English.
  • Capable of exemplifying the values of Esperanza in all circumstances and commitment to God's concern for the poor.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Excel, Word, and accounting software
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting and software preferred.
