Tool Maker

Herman Mold + Tooling is a local, Fairfield, Iowa, company that manufactures aluminum molds used to make plastic products. We have been in business for 37 years serving the Fairfield community. Our molds produce products for a variety of industries including construction, agriculture equipment, automotive, lawn and garden, and more... We are looking for a skilled tool maker to join our team! This role is integral in producing high-quality molds to our customers standards. This position requires great manual dexterity and technical knowledge to be able to work with a variety of materials, tools, and machinery in the production of aluminum molds and steel cutting. This position is for day shift 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Responsibilities: Operate manual lathes, CNC, milling machines, and other tool room equipment Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, tape measures Troubleshoot basic repairs for common blow mold issues: flash, broken and/or bent ejector pins, stuck parts Read and understand blueprints to make parts per print Perform routine basic maintenance on machines Competencies: Proficient with measuring instruments such as tape measures, micrometers, calipers, rulers, scribes, and geometric dimensions and tolerances Good communication with the ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with engineers, mold makers, and other staff Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise
