Cost Accountant
The Cost Accountant is responsible for a range of accounting and reporting tasks, including the maintenance of costing, accounts payable, financial schedules/reports, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role requires familiarity with a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. The individual will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals effectively.
Essential Requirements & Key Responsibilities
The Cost Accountant is responsible for a range of accounting and reporting tasks, including the maintenance of costing, accounts payable, financial schedules/reports, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This role requires familiarity with a variety of accounting concepts, practices, and procedures. The individual will rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals effectively.
Essential Requirements & Key Responsibilities
- Assist with cost and expense reporting and analysis on a monthly basis.
- Support the month-end close process, ensuring compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
- Oversee expense-based purchase requests and monitor all related projects and budgets.
- Assist with the company's property management, including fixed assets, materials, and spare parts, and perform periodic physical inventory.
- Track production cost data such as productivity, material consumption, and manufacturing costs.
- Review and verify costs related to materials, such as duties and freight.
- Support the annual financial statement audit and periodic audits by regulatory agencies within the area of responsibility.
- Assist with documenting policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned responsibilities.
- Coordinate the preparation of tax returns and correspondence with various taxing authorities.
- Perform special accounting projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
- Required Skills & Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency in Chinese and English is required.
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant professional experience.
- Working knowledge of accounting systems, particularly General Ledger.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid organizational and time management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- CPA, CMA, or ACCA certification is a plus.
