Senior Accountant

AeroCision LLC, a dynamic aerospace manufacturing company located in Chester, CT, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team to assist in the growth of our company and strength of our financial reporting and analysis. This individual is required to have a strong background in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing company. Experience with key performance indicator (KPI) reporting, budget and forecasting, inventory costing, month-end close, internal controls and detailed financial analysis are required for this role. AeroCision is a rapidly growing company, and as such this candidate would have to be flexible to change and open to expanding job responsibilities to assist in achieving our goals. This candidate must have excellent communication skills that projects clarity and professionalism. Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, is an absolute requirement. Knowledge of and experience with manufacturing ERP systems is preferred.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Controller, GM of US Machining and CFO with daily, monthly and year-end operations of the department.
• Prepare the weekly KPI scorecard and assist in analysis.
• Assist in month-end closing process and financial reporting package as well as lead improvements to documentation and process.
• Substantial focus on balance sheet activities including helping to create, improve, and conduct detailed reconciliations that will support process improvement and standardization.
• Assist with the enhancement and development of internal controls and ensure effective implementation and ongoing operating effectiveness.
• Regularly collaborates with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable to streamline and improve current processes as well as serve as a backup to these roles as needed.
• Work directly with members of Engineering, Quality, Production and others to assist in supporting finance-related needs of the company.
• Perform daily tasks including scrap and inventory tracking, orderbook analysis, cash activity tracking, and daily metric reporting.
• Assist in preparation of compliance-related items such as tax filings, government surveys, customer requirements, and quality regulations.
• Assist with tax and audit requirements including preparing schedules, pulling requests and working with Controller on reporting and analysis and responding to audit or tax queries.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting requirements including full financial budgeting, cash forecasting and sales and profitability forecasting.
• Participate in the development of company policies and internal controls where finance is involved.
• Responsible for processing weekly Payroll and working with department managers and Human Resources to resolve any issues for timely submission.
• Support Controller in maintenance of Standard Cost of Inventory including job cost analysis, performing cycle counts, fluctuation and variance analyses.
• Assist with continuous improvement, automation, and internal control initiatives.
• Assist with or leading certain special projects as required.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
• Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience in manufacturing or related industry
• CPA credential is preferred, but not required
• Proficiency in Windows environment with very strong Excel skills; knowledge of accounting software Experience with manufacturing ERP systems is strongly preferred
• Must be accurate, pay attention to detail and efficient with ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Knowledge of internal controls and how to effectively implement them.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
• Self-starter and ability to work independently with little supervision
• Flexible to changes and expanding responsibilities as needed
• Willingness to work cooperatively with all levels of employees and management and with a hands-on approach to taking on various tasks as needed
