JOB DESCRIPTION:
Implement the District Comprehensive Guidance Plan responding to the unique needs of the individual student.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops a campus Comprehensive Guidance Plan based on school needs-includes activities identified in the District's Developmental Guidance Plan.
- Conducts individual and group counseling.
- Assists individual students in demonstrating self-confidence in reaching educational goals.
- Confers with students, parents, and teachers when needed.
- Conducts individual personal/academic student and parent conferences.
- Assists with testing when needed.
- Places students in instructional programs.
- Serves as a resource for students, parents and staff members to access community resources.
- Provides college and career awareness activities.
- Serves on District Crisis Team.
- Gives materials concerning programs available at the campus and throughout the District Advises students in preparing four-year high school plan.
- Coordinates school transition activities.
- Assists in the referral process and educational placement of students with special needs.
- Provides orientation sessions for parents.
- Adheres to time lines and procedures.
- Meets deadlines as established by the Technology and PEIMS departments for scheduling and grade reporting.
- Maintains calendar schedule of school and counselor activities.
- Attends required District in-service and staff meetings.
- Maintains student data records.
- Maintains student Personal Graduation Plans for students who have failed any section of state-mandated testing.
- Accesses testing information and competency test scores for each student.
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships.
- Cooperates with and supports faculty and staff.
- Demonstrates self-control and exhibits overall positive approach.
- Promotes positive self-image in students.
- Treats students consistently and empathetically.
- Initiates procedure to analyze and modify, as necessary, performance of duties based on self-analysis, feedback from students and interactions with colleagues.
- Maintains and improves professional competence through reading, course work, and professional activities.
- Consults with Coordinator of Guidance and Counseling when necessary.
- Regular attendance.
- Maintains confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with students in an educational setting or with school-aged children
- Experience supporting students/school-aged children in crisis situations
Education/Certification:
- Master's Degree
- Professional School counselor's certificate
- Knowledge of counseling procedures, student appraisal, and career development
- Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students to make positive decisions in reaching responsible behavior
- Knowledge and experience interpreting various testing instruments
- Knowledgeable about secondary academic curriculum
- Knowledge/awareness of how to access community resources
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

SALARY:
PAY GRADE: AE - 3 - Minimum pro-rated salary - $70,532
DAYS: 202 START DATE: 2024-2025 School Year
