Lead Financial Planning & Analysis Analyst

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead FP&A Analyst with experience in the defense industry and federal contracting to join our finance team. This role is integral in driving financial planning, analysis, and strategy for our government and defense-related operations. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of federal acquisition regulations (FAR), cost accounting standards (CAS), and compliance requirements, combined with a strong analytical and strategic mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning & Forecasting:

• Develop, manage, and enhance budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning processes specific to defense and federal contracts.

• Partner with program managers and cross-functional teams to align financial projections with contract deliverables and strategic objectives.

1. Analysis & Reporting:

• Conduct in-depth financial analysis for government contracts, including direct and indirect cost allocations, contract profitability, and compliance adherence.

• Prepare and present clear, concise reports tailored to government stakeholders, auditors, and executive leadership.

• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for government programs, providing variance analysis and actionable recommendations.

1. Strategic Support:

• Collaborate with program and contract managers to optimize cost structures and ensure alignment with FAR/CAS requirements.

• Provide financial modeling and scenario analysis to support proposals, contract negotiations, and strategic defense initiatives.

1. Compliance & Audit Support:

• Ensure financial processes align with federal acquisition regulations, cost accounting standards, and other compliance requirements.

• Serve as a liaison during audits or financial reviews by government agencies, such as the DCAA.

1. Process Improvement:

• Enhance FP&A tools and systems to streamline defense-related reporting and compliance tracking.

• Implement best practices for financial analysis in the defense and federal contracting environment.

1. Team Leadership:

• Mentor and guide junior analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

• Lead efforts to enhance FP&A capabilities tailored to government and defense operations.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CFA preferred).

• 5+ years of experience in FP&A, financial analysis, or related roles, with a focus on defense business or federal contracting.

• Deep knowledge of FAR, CAS, and government compliance requirements.

• Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting tools, and advanced Excel.

• Experience with financial software (e.g., Deltek Costpoint, Hyperion, SAP) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.

• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.
