Metairie, La Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking an experienced Fitter

Job Summary: The Fitter is responsible for assembling, positioning, and securing parts and components of metal structures or machinery according to technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards. The role requires precise measurement, cutting, and alignment of materials, ensuring that all parts fit together correctly before final welding or assembly.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret Blueprints and Drawings: Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work orders to determine the layout and assembly sequence of parts.
• Material Preparation: Measure, mark, cut, and shape metal parts using hand tools, power tools, and machinery to match specifications.
• Assembly and Alignment: Position, fit, and assemble components accurately, using clamps, jigs, and tack welding to temporarily secure parts in place.
• Welding Support: Assist welders by ensuring that parts are properly aligned and ready for welding. May perform tack welding as needed.
• Inspection and Quality Control: Inspect completed assemblies to ensure they meet the required tolerances and specifications. Make adjustments as necessary.
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a safe working environment.
• Collaboration: Work closely with welders, fabricators, and other team members to complete projects efficiently and to high standards.

Qualifications:

• Experience: 3 years of experience as a fitter in the metalworking, manufacturing, or construction industry.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in fitting or a related field is preferred.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong understanding of material properties and fabrication techniques.
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Basic welding skills, including tack welding.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, and work in various positions, including kneeling, crouching, and climbing.

Work Environment:

• The work environment may involve exposure to noise, dust, and heavy machinery. Fitters must follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
