POSITION SUMMARY Reports to: Vice President of Tourism & Global Development Are you passionate about promoting Washington, DC as a top travel destination? If you're a motivated individual with strong communication skills, strategic planning skills, and a love for travel, we're looking for you! Hablas Español/Fala Portuguese and you have experience in destination promotion? If yes, this is the ideal position for you. As our Global Tourism Development Manager, you'll be responsible for representing Destination DC at international trade shows and events. You'll build and maintain relationships with travel trade clients and partners, develop market-specific action plans, and provide exceptional customer service. You will be responsible for increasing the number of international overnight leisure visitors to Washington, DC through direct and indirect sales and promotions, with a focus on the Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets. Your Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include the following, but are not limited to): You are ready to be the face for Destination DC at international trade shows, sales missions, and meetings to promote Washington, DC as a travel destination and follow up with all clients and requests. You can develop market-specific action plans to maximize visitation year-round through various marketing and promotion initiatives. You can identify, establish, and maintain relationships with travel trade clients and partners in targeted Spanish and Portuguese speaking markets. You understand the importance of those client connections and relationships. You are ready to manage the day-to-day in-market activities with our representation offices in Mexico and Brazil. You thrive in educating clients and partners on DC travel products through sales calls, presentations, training programs, familiarization tours, promotional literature, etc. You have a solid understanding of business building and how to identify and assist secondary feeder markets for potential growth and market changes. You thrive in organization and understanding the importance of maintaining detailed database and trace files of clients and partners and producing reports of sales activities as needed. You enjoy participating in and servicing client/member special requests and attending local, regional, and national hospitality industry functions and organizations as appropriate. You enjoy staying abreast of industry trends and conditions. You have extensive knowledge of and enthusiasm for Washington, DC and its facilities. What You Bring: Knowledge, Competencies & Skills Demonstrated 3-5 years' experience working in/with international markets in sales and/or destination promotion roles. Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM software systems. Bilingual preferred; professional proficiency in other languages, written and oral. A college degree preferred, or equivalent professional experience in the travel trade industry with preference in tourism promotion management and hospitality. An interest in travel domestically and internationally (up to 40%) and willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed. Proven knowledge of international markets and their diversity. Great enthusiasm for promoting Washington, DC and its assets. Must be able to legally work in the United States of America.
