Summary/ Objective:

The Automation Services Technician is responsible for providing on-site services that support process and discrete manufactures operations. The services will include but are not limited to the following:
  • Rockwell Authorized Services Provider services
    • Installed Base Evaluation
    • VFD Start-up services
    • Lock Out Tag Out audits.
    • Arc Flash audits
  • Instructor for various Schaedler Yesco technical training classes.
Essential Functions:

Technical
  • Execute documented procedures on-site at customer facilities for various SYD Automation services.
  • Ability to deliver SYD Automation training content to customers both at SYD and customer facilities
  • Demonstrate core competency around Rockwell Automation products and associated manufacturing technology.
Commercial
  • Act as representative of Schaedler Yescowhile performing services on mission critical customer equipment and applications.
  • Develop Relationships with key customer stakeholders.
  • Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Articulate the value of services offerings to customers during the lifecycle of the engagement.
  • Work with customers to determine customer problems, needs and goals thereby identifying opportunities for product and services that may be outside of the scope of your original engagement.
  • Document work activities in appropriate, professional report format.
  • Assist in the clarification and resolution of customer issues.
Competencies:
  • Understanding of safe work practices in an industrial environment including but not limited to utilization personal protective equipment as required.
  • Exposure to Industrial Control Systems including PLC, HMI/SCADA, plant historian, motor control, motion control, etc. technology and applications (Rockwell or comparable platforms)
Supervisory Responsibility:
  • This position is not a supervisory role and does not have any direct reports.
Work Environment:
  • This is a hybrid position.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to work on customer jobsites that could be indoors or outdoors.
  • Must be able to access control panels that could be on mezzanines or remote locations in a plant, on a jobsite or on a machine within a plant.
  • Be able to carry a tablet and record part numbers and other data.
Travel:
  • Ability to travel is required. This position will require employee to travel to:
    • Customer plant locations
    • Customer jobsite locations
    • Training classes
    • SYD Branches
  • 50-70% of travel required are for day trips.
  • 10-25% of travel will include overnight staying at another location.
Clearances and Certifications:
  • Various clearances will be required. Depending on the customer, clearances and/or background checks may be required.
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.
  • Completion of all safety trainings prior to entering customer facilities or jobsites.
Education and Experience:
  • Associate of Science Degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent technological training (e.g. technological training received while serving in the military, or equivalent industry training).
Or
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology or related technology driven degree.
  • +2yrs Hands on experience working in an industrial manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Exposure to industrial Lockout Tag out standards and best practices.
  • Exposure to industrial Arch Flash standards and best practices.
