Role Description

Form Energy is hiring a Test Technician to commission new test stands and batteries at our Berkeley site. This role reports into the Manager of Test Execution within the Development Testing organization. As part of our Test Execution team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the commissioning and uninterrupted operation of battery cells and modules. This position requires hands-on skills, a creative approach, and troubleshooting mindset in order to execute integration effectively. What you'll do:

  • Validate electrical and mechanical test systems ahead of battery integration using proprietary software and protocols
  • Commission electrochemical devices and their test stands for an efficient on-test process
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrochemical devices and electromechanical equipment for the duration of active tests to maximize total test uptime
  • Log troubleshooting activities and failure observations for performance traceability, and analyze testing metrics to provide input to Test and Product engineering team design cycles
  • Support Test Development team with setting up, troubleshooting, and executing one-off tests
  • Safely handle corrosive materials and follow instructions to properly use and dispose of them
What you'll bring:
  • 2+ years experience in commissioning or operating test systems; electrochemical testing experience a plus
  • Aptitude in troubleshooting, software, electrical work and willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with common electrical, HVAC, and plumbing components such as fuses, power supplies, fans, pumps, valves, etc.
  • Knowledge of chemical and electrical safety practices
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
