Job Description
This is a MS SQL Server DBA role largely responsible for providing operational database services to the organization. Primary responsibilities of this role includes owning, tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests within provided SLAs, reviewing service related reports primarily but not limited to the Production and KC/DR Data Center database servers and services (e.g.: database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs, responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems. Ensuring and maintaining the readiness and operability in the Production and KC/DR datacenter database servers for the Ria Financial databases. Actual readiness and availability in the KC DR datacenter in the actual event of the Production database systems failover from the LA production data center to ensure the business continuity of the Ria Financial databases running in the KC data center High sense of ownership of the problems and requests assigned, focus on managing and resolving issues in alignment with the SLAs, establishing and maintaining communication with technology customers to keep them updated with status of their requests, initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes. The MS SQL Server DBA will be part of the Production DBA Team, which is required to follow an on-site/on-call rotation including weekends and holidays to support the production environment. This is a hybrid position that requires onsite office presence at least 3 times a week (Mon, Tues, Thurs) Qualifications
Experience with SQL Server Replication Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization using monitoring and troubleshooting tools Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems Experience with SQL Server Integration/Reporting Services Experience/knowledge of Log Shipping Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server, such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics Experience writing T-SQL and reports Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations Pro-active monitoring of databases both from a performance and capacity management perspective Perform database maintenance activities such as backup/recovery, replication, rebuilding and reorganizing indexes Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking/deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, data replication issues etc. Experience with using SQL Profiler or Server Side Traces/Extended Events to help troubleshoot performance bottlenecks Ability to detect and troubleshoot and resolve database related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention issues PERKS & BENEFITS
