A week in the life of a Lead Platform Engineer: + Design and implementscalable platform architecturein collaboration with cross-functional teams. + Lead the development and deployment of platform components, services, and applications. + Work closely with developers tostreamline code deploymentandestablish CI/CD pipelines, making environments more consistent and reliable. + Optimize performance, security, and cost-effectivenessby evaluating and selecting appropriate technologies and maintaining CI/CD pipelines. + Drivesecurity best practicesand troubleshoot complex issues to minimize downtime. + Ensureavailability and scalabilityof environments for software teams, focusing onautomation, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps practices + Performingrequirements analysis,requirements gathering, and integration for all platforms + Investigating andresolving operational problemswith other engineering and technical personnel + Work on project teams responsible forengineering and packaging releaseswithin the customers production IT environment + Providing direction andguidance to less-experienced Systems Engineers Job Requirements + ActiveTOP SECRET clearancewith SCI eligibility + DoD 8570 IAT Level IICertification required (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, or SSCP) + Bachelors degreeand10+ years of related experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role + Experience designing and maintaininghighly available, scalable, and secure architecturesincloudandon-premisesenvironmentsacross IL5 to IL6+ domains. + Expert inAWS/Azurewith strong understanding ofcloud servicesandnetworking. + Hands-on experience withcontainerizationandorchestrationtechnologies likeDocker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift + Experience working inAgiledevelopment teams. + At least 2 yearsof experience administeringLinux (RHEL) systems + proficient in Linux administration, includingmanaging users,permissions,networking, andstorage. + comfortable with commands for system monitoring, package management, and shell scripting + Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Systems, EMC SANs, and VMware products + Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $180,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
