Synergy , a leading Boston commercial real estate firm, seeks a Senior Development Manager for a portfolio of over 8 million square feet, across 50 properties, composed of commercial office, retail, hospitality, and multi-family properties. The Senior Development Manager will be an experienced commercial real estate professional who enjoys working as part of a team and is comfortable with a wide range of responsibilities. The role, reporting to the Executive Vice President, Head of Asset Management, requires strategic thinking, with a passion for real estate development. The individual will serve as a project leader, focusing on overseeing multiple projects simultaneously, involving office repositionings, renovations, multifamily projects including conversions of single use to mixed use & ground up construction. This role will also be assisting with evaluating new development opportunities, managing design & construction professionals and assisting in the capitalization & lease up effort for projects. This highly visible position is a key member of the leadership team and plays a prominent role in furthering Synergy's growth and meeting its strategic objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Management and leadership of development projects, with necessary authority and support, as well as project level risk management from acquisition to fulfilment of project execution. Project representative for the project and/or projects in coordination with external parties including consultants, civic and governmental authorities and public stakeholders. Managing project teams from conceptual design through project execution, including but not limited to entitlements, design, permitting, pre-construction and construction activities, operations and capitalization. Engage and collaborate with both internal and external parties and collaborators including asset management, legal, marketing, leasing, accounting, investments, finance and capital markets. Set an example for other team members by guiding, mentoring and teaching. Meeting with tenants, stakeholders and community members to identify and strengthen business opportunities, as necessary. Leverage and maintain existing network of contacts within the local real estate market and work to expand and broaden that network. Interacts with capital partners regarding project progress. Active participation in recruitment, selection, and talent development to drive organizational performance. Monitors appropriate staffing levels and reports on utilization and deployment of human resources. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. 10+ years' experience within real estate development or related industry preferred MBA or Masters of Real Estate preferred Strong understanding of the construction process and all its related projects controls, including cost, schedule and quality Demonstrated passion for real estate development with substantial experience in office Documented, hands-on experience in the commercial investment and development process including: -Feasibility studies
-Entitlements, title, survey, planning and zoning
-Project valuation and finance
-Management and oversight of architectural design and coordination of consultants
-Construction management
-Leasing, marketing, and public relations
Cost control, real estate funding and project reporting Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously without losing sight of project goals Strong financial and analytical acumen with a proven record of financial management experience A strong leader, capable of encouraging, empowering and successfully directing a team of people that has the creativity and experience needed to visualize and successfully guide a design team to project completion Excellent written and oral communication skills Outstanding and effective interpersonal and analytical skills Well-developed emotional and social intelligence, project leadership and cooperation skills Strong global perspective, respecting the viewpoints of those from diverse cultures, races, ages, genders, religions and lifestyles to build collaborative relationships and communicate effectively A collaborator who drives, creates and builds project teams with an ability to adapt rapidly to change Ability to speak in public to represent the firm regarding a project Proven track record of leading individuals and teams
