Where you'll work: This is a hybrid onsite/remote opportunity where you will report to the WAPA location in Loveland, CO and have the flexibility to work from home based on business needs.

Our Customer's Mission : The Western Area Power Administration (WAPA) is a federal agency under the United States Department of Energy (DOE) that manages and operates high-voltage electric transmission systems across 15 western states. WAPA's mission is to market and deliver reliable, cost-based, renewable power and transmission services to its customers, while also promoting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. WAPA also manages and markets power from 56 federal hydroelectric power plants, which generate clean and renewable energy for 40 million customers. Epsilon provides comprehensive and high-quality IT support to WAPA in the areas of; Software maintenance and development, Network, Database, and Operations Support/Management, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Cyber-Security, Solution Architecture, and Project Management.

An average day: As Systems Administrator III, you will play a pivotal role in our IT operations, responsible for deploying, maintaining, enhancing, and supporting our IT infrastructure. This role requires leveraging and implementing modern solutions for deployment, configuration, and monitoring to meet customer requirements and ensure system reliability. Key responsibilities include managing Windows and Linux OS systems from deployment to configuration and patching, overseeing virtual environments (VMware, AWS, Azure), and administering Microsoft 365 services (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint, etc.). You will ensure seamless operations, implement automation, DevOps, and monitoring best practices, and ensure compliance and proper system auditing. Additionally, in this position you will:

System Management: Administer and maintain Microsoft Windows Server/Desktop and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems, including Red Hat Satellite and Red Hat IDM. Cloud and Directory Services: Manage and optimize Microsoft 365, Azure Active Directory, and on-premises Active Directory environments. Virtualization and Storage: Administer VMware vCenter/vSphere and VXRail platforms, ensuring high availability and scalability. Manage Dell PowerProtect Data Manager, Dell Data Protection Advisor, and Data Domain for backup and recovery solutions. Collaboration Tools: Oversee the configuration and support of Teams, SharePoint, and Exchange/Exchange Online environments. Performance and Monitoring: Utilize SolarWinds Orion and Patch Manager for proactive system monitoring and management, ensuring optimal performance. Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain endpoint protection using Trellix ePO Server and Encryption Agent. Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure system compliance and security. Automation and Deployment: Leverage SCCM and automation tools such as Ansible to streamline software deployments, patches, and updates. Monitoring and Analytics: Use Splunk for system monitoring, log analysis, and performance tuning. Service Management: Track and manage tasks efficiently using ServiceNow, ensuring timely resolution of incidents and requests. Documentation and Governance: Develop and maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, procedures, and best practices to support governance and operational consistency. Basic Qualifications:

As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C), Epsilon will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions. 5+ years of progressive experience as a Systems Administrator, with demonstrated mastery of Linux (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Windows environments. Advanced proficiency in system lifecycle management, including system upgrades, patch administration, and implementation of rigorous security updates. Expertise in automation frameworks such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, complemented by hands-on experience with DevOps methodologies and tools, including Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes. Extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, VMware) and a strong command of cloud infrastructure architecture and management. Proficiency in utilizing sophisticated monitoring and analytics tools, such as SolarWinds Orion and Splunk, to optimize system performance and reliability. In-depth understanding of network protocols, cybersecurity principles, and advanced techniques for system performance tuning. Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to operate independently or collaboratively in complex technical environments and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated capability in developing and maintaining detailed documentation for system configurations, operational procedures, and industry best practices. Comprehensive knowledge of data protection strategies, including data backup and disaster recovery planning and testing, alongside expertise in leveraging ITSM platforms like ServiceNow for efficient task management. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with advanced scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell to support automation and system integration tasks. Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) frameworks, such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow for workflow and task management. Strong background in mentoring and training junior IT staff or leading cross-functional teams. Other Requirements:

Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust. This position may require the ability to operate a government vehicle. The incumbent must be at least 18 years of age, able to obtain and maintain Defensive Drivers certification and have a valid state driver's license.
