Job Summary

The Senior Events Coordinator will provide high-level administrative and event support for the Center for Urban and Industrial Pest Management (Urban Center) and department of Entomology programs. In this role, you will plan and coordinate the annual on-campus Purdue Pest Management conference (PMC) and related online conferences or webinars designed to ensure the licensing of applicators for household and business pesticide use. You will liaise with state regulatory entities to secure state approvals of continuing education credit and certification credits, track expenses and payments for the PMC conference and provide support for major Entomology outreach and recruitment events such as Bug Bowl and Discover Insect Bio Day. In addition, you will develop alumni relationships and assist in the coordination of alumni events, correspondence and department database.

What You'll Be Doing:

Supporting the pest management conference planning group of 12-14 industry and faculty representatives during a roughly 8-month period. The conference typically attracts >500 attendees and has a program of talks over 3 days Managing the program of speakers, logistics for their travel and accommodation, and work with Purdue Conferences for the delivery of the venue, meals etc. during the event Following the conference, work with the Office of the State Chemist to ensure attendees receive continuing education credits for re-licensing and proof of licensing Administrative support for post-conference surveys to assess program effectiveness Preparing Urban Center Communications, including bi-annual CUIPM newsletter, web-based and social media communications Supporting the department of Entomology in various events, recruitment and alumni relation Supporting with the coordination of department recruitment events such as Discover Insect Bio Day Supporting with the planning of the annual Bug Bowl outreach event Supporting with alumni events such as the John V. Osmun Award Ceremony and the Virginia Ferris Award Preparing semiannual Department of Entomology newsletter to be distributed to department and alumni Updating and maintaining alumni mailing lists, databases, and websites Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Center for Urban and Industrial Pest Management What We're Looking For:

High school diploma or GED 4 years' of related office and/or event support experience Experience working with software for databases Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with teams of faculty, staff, students and industry Strong computer skills Creative problem-solving skills Basic budgeting skills. Ability to work independently Nice to Have:

Bachelors degree Experience working with software for databases and newsletters Background in educational programming or communications What We'd Like You to Know:
