The Summit Y is seeking a dynamic captain to lead our aquatic crew as the Aquatics Director. If you have experience and a passion working in aquatics, in particular at a YMCA you may be the right candidate for this role.

The Aquatics Director is responsible for assuring the pool's operation and availability for swim programs, inclusive of lessons, open swim, group aquatic classes. He/she develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs.

Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives. Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations. Ensures pool safety procedures are rigidly adhered to by lifeguards and other pool staff. Conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Creates and schedules swim classes, water fitness classes, and swim team practices and meets. Prepares aquatics budget and manage on a monthly basis to grow the aquatics programs. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner. Knows and performs proper emergency procedures. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events. Holds Aquatics Department meetings as necessary. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program. Salary & Benefits:

This Full Time exempt level position, is generally scheduled to work 40 hour each with and may include night and weekend hours depending on program needs. The salary range for this role is $55,000-$60,000 annually and is based on experience. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent. Minimum of three years related experience preferred; for example, as an aquatics director or asst aquatics director, aquatics coordinator or supervisor. Minimum of two years supervisory experience. Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications:

a. American Red Cross Lifeguard and/or Y Lifeguard

b. American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and/or Y Lifeguard Instructor

c. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor and/or Y Swim Instructor

d. American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer and/or Y Swim Instructor Trainer (within 6-12 months)

e. Certified Pool Operator (within 6 months)
