POSITION TITLE: MULTIMEDIA DEVELOPER
REPORTS TO: CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
OVER-TIME STATUS: EXEMPT PAY GRADE: 374
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs The Multimedia Developer works under the leadership of the Chief Communications Officer to produce and develop video content for Portsmouth Public Schools, and then shared on all traditional broadcast and digital channels. The position includes, but is not limited to the following responsibilities: all needs related to pre-production (scriptwriting, scheduling, and logistics), production (capturing video content) and post-production (editing); transport, setup, and breakdown of video equipment; operate traditional and emerging multi-media equipment; and support the work of the Department of Communications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Create, curate, and edit special photo, video and multimedia content and features, (including graphics, music, and other design elements) for social media, the Portsmouth Public Schools television station as well as other internal channels/electronic bulletin boards. Record, format and save programs for the Portsmouth Public Schools television station as well as other digital media, including pre-packaged content; Carry out live event production (i.e., Teacher of the Year, Retirement Ceremony, etc.), for both coverage and livestreaming. Evaluate and recommend new broadcast equipment to Lead Multimedia Developer. Cover and produce School Board meetings (both in chambers and off-site). Maintain communication with City Station Manager for issues/maintenance of equipment concerns, exchange of videos, etc. Operate all areas of the television studio including audio board, lighting console production switcher, studio cameras, teleprompter, Chroma key effects. Communicate with clients and subjects in regard to video shoots and preproduction. Maintain video equipment/inventory. Must maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate coverage of school board meetings and evening shoots as needed. Perform any other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud and non-linear editing software (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, inDesign), working knowledge of digital tools and resources (including audio and visual resources); experience with live event coverage and production; to have knowledge and experience with DSLR/mirrorless style cameras and broadcast/PTZ cameras; knowledge of cinematic production techniques; familiarity with studio operations and maintenance; excellent analytical and project management skills; an ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines; strong verbal and written communication skills; and ability to work independently or in teams depending on project needs; understanding of photography techniques and editing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in video production, multimedia development, communications or a related field. Must have a valid driver's license.
Required: A high school diploma or GED is required.
