Job Overview & Essential Functions

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC is North America's largest Kenworth truck dealership group and leasing group. As MHC continues to grow, we have an opening for a DOT Compliance and Fleet Specialist. The DOT Compliance and Fleet Specialist performs various Department of Transportation (DOT) safety compliance and risk management duties in the daily administration of the company's insurance, safety, fleet and DOT compliance programs. Major responsibilities will include managing the driver qualification file process and audits, DataQ challenges, managing the DOT drug and alcohol testing program, assisting with certificates of insurance, and vehicle safety program administration. Develops and delivers training on compliance programs. Supports the Safety Department and company operations through various corporate administrative duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Responsible for initial Driver Qualification file set-up, review, and approval processes. Also performs audits of Driver Qualification files. Manages any inaccurate, expired, or missing items. This includes the managing of all new hire and existing DOT verification Requests.
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining Driver Qualification (DQ) files for all MHC DOT regulated drivers. Ensures all new CDL applicants have taken proper ELDT training with a registered trainer prior to establishing DQ file.
  • Asset utilization analysis and reporting, to include managing unauthorized use of company vehicles, and compliance to utilizing electronic vehicle inspections.
  • Monitors status of driver's licenses and DOT medical cards and ensures they are documented appropriately in each DQ file and updated correctly. Ensures expired documents are renewed.
  • Maintains the list of MHC vehicles and performs audits of vehicle maintenance files to ensure compliance. Reviews and manages fuel reports for inefficiencies and opportunities.
  • Reviews MHC DOT safety management (CSA) scores on a regular basis and performs data challenges as needed for all MHC operations. Prepares monthly CSA score summaries for MHC DOT operations and distributes scores and violations to MHC operations.
  • Ensures that all random and reasonable suspicion drug tests are administered at the correct rate to keep MHC in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Performs audits to ensure compliance with all Hours-of-Service regulations.
  • Works with Regional Safety Manages in the administration of the DriveCam and other vehicle safety programs, including general program administration and report generation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
  • College degree preferred. Experience with DOT regulations or DOT compliance programs strongly preferred.
  • Requires excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and customer service skills.
  • Proficient Microsoft Office products, with a strong experience with Microsoft Excel. Ability to learn and adapt to new software and technology is necessary.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Requires excellent organizational skills, including ability to maintain files and multi-task.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be able to effectively and proactively manage numerous open claims and tasks concurrently.
  • Limited travel may be required.
