Continuous Improvement Lead

Location: Huron Nursery, Huron Greenhouse, and Avon Nursery

Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct thorough analysis of operations and distribution to pinpoint inefficiencies and areas for process improvement.

Implement and maintain lean manufacturing tools and techniques, such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping, to enhance workflow.

Collaborate with various teams, including production and management, to develop and execute process improvements.

Monitor and assess the effectiveness of lean initiatives through key performance indicators (KPIs) and feedback mechanisms.

Provide training and ongoing support team members on lean principles, ensuring proper understanding and adherence.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of lean activities, initiatives, and progress.

Contribute to the development and refinement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure alignment with lean principles.

Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards in lean initiatives.

Act as a change agent, driving continuous improvement within the nursery environment.

Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and or previous experience in lean manufacturing or process improvement, preferably in the nursery or agricultural sector.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff at all levels.

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.

Familiarity with lean tools, such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Working Environment:

Exposure to various weather conditions, as work will be carried out in different nursery settings, including greenhouses and outdoor environments.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to ensure safety.

This position will require travel between Huron Nursery, Huron Greenhouse, and Avon Nursery locations.
