Description

SUMMARY

Skills Trainers - Bilingual will provide skills training to program youth directly related to the goals of the youth's treatment plan; Skills Trainers - Bilingual will act as the youth's advocate, mentor, and behavior coach, and attend wrap meetings for coordination of care. Average caseload is 10- 12 youth, many of whom will have families who are monolingual Spanish speaking. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides rehabilitation services to youth in the home, school, and community focusing on specific skill deficit areas including, independent living skills, emotion regulation, social skills and coping skills.
  • Helps develop formal/informal support networks for youth/families in the communities in which they reside.
  • Participate in wraparound team meetings.
  • Triage crisis situations with team members, including doing basic risk assessments, safety planning, and connecting to resources to maintain safety in the home, school, and community.
  • Acts as a positive role model for youth and promotes greater youth participation and voice at the practice, program, and policy levels of the System of Care.
  • Documents all clinical work per Medi-Cal requirements and SDCC policies and procedures.
  • Maintains clear, effective, and open communication between multi-disciplinary clinical staff and administrative personnel within and between SDCC programs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid California Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • 2 years experience working with youth and families, Juvenile Justice, Child Welfare, or Regional Center services
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to manage a calendar and work cohesively on a team
  • Bilingual in Spanish
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree in Child Development, Sociology, Psychology, or Criminal Justice
  • Work experiencein a wraparound program
  • Work experience as an advocate or trainer
  • Work experience documenting in an Electronic Health Record
