SUMMARY:
The Project Engineer will develop and execute manufacturing plant projects, capital or otherwise, including scope, schedule, budget, procurement, installation and performance. The role will provide technical solutions across the facility and site and will include leading cross functional teams in providing those solutions as necessary. This position will sustain the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.
PRIMARY WORK SHIFT: Works shift as assigned and overtime as required.
Monday through Friday 7:30AM- 4:30PM. Will vary, depending on workload

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to perform maintenance tasks, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to conditions that are typical to a fast- paced manufacturing environment, including: moving equipment and machinery, dusty, hot/humid, and cold conditions; employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in the presence of airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment usually requires the use of hearing protection. Work involves exposure to common wheat allergens.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP's, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions. Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
- Lead Engineer on projects, capital or otherwise. Overall project management, budget, schedule management, construction management, contractor management, start-up, conceptual phases, project close-out, scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation and check-out.
- Maintain engineering interface with business team. Develop and maintain close working relationships with R&D, quality, manufacturing, operations, maintenance and finance.
- Offer production support and troubleshooting assistance to engineers, operations, and maintenance.
- Provide innovative technical solutions required to meet business objectives with emphasis on productivity, food safety, quality, and human safety.
- Provide support for both the annual and long-term capital planning processes.
- Provide expertise on facility maintenance and recommend projects to keep facility in a safe and operable condition.
- Manages the capital expense budget for the plant.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage vendors, contractors and engineering firms.
- Coordinate and direct plant personnel and mechanics as needed to support project work.

- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in engineering discipline preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a continuous manufacturing environment. Food manufacturing experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in managing multiple projects.
- Must have good understanding of packaging systems, process systems, facility design, and a working knowledge of plant manufacturing, engineering, quality, and research functions.
- Thorough understanding of food manufacturing regulatory requirements (GMP's, food safety, etc.). Experience working with EPA and OSHA regulations.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.
