We are seeking a talented and motivated System Performance Monitoring Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the performance of our iron flow battery systems. Your responsibilities will align closely with those of a Network Operating Center (NOC) Engineer. You will play a critical role in ensuring our systems operate efficiently and reliably, contributing to the success of our technology in the market.

We are seeking a talented and motivated System Performance Monitoring Engineer to join our team. You will play a critical role in ensuring our systems operate efficiently and reliably, contributing to the success of our technology in the market.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring and Management:
- Continuously monitor the performance and health of ESS Inc.'s iron flow battery systems.
- Utilize advanced monitoring tools to track system metrics and status in real-time.
- Proactively identify and respond to any performance anomalies or system alarms.
- Coordinate monitoring schedule and partner with service operations team to assign global monitoring resources.
- Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
- Act as the primary point of contact for system performance issues.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues affecting system performance.
- Coordinate with field service teams, customers, and other technical personnel to ensure swift resolution of incidents.
- Performance Analysis:
- Conduct detailed analysis of system performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and potential areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Generate regular performance reports and provide insights to stakeholders.
- Communication and Documentation:
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of system performance issues, resolutions, and operational procedures.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, and partners regarding system status and performance metrics.
- Provide training and support to customers and internal teams as needed.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in energy storage technologies and industry best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of monitoring and response processes within the NOC.
- Write specifications for developing NOC software and partner with development teams to test, validate and release
- Recommend and implement enhancements to system performance monitoring tools and techniques.
- Partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure serviceability of existing and future products.
- Perform factory ELT testing for each new product to ensure knowledge and familiarity with all products.
- Participate in factory and field validation of startup, maintenance and repair instructions.
- Participate in performing technical training for operators, service network providers, new ESS employees as needed.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Be available for scheduled on-call support to address any critical issues or system failures promptly.
- Provide back up to Technical Response Engineers
- Proactively identify potential issues or risks and implement solutions to mitigate them.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35-50 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
- Must also be able to reach at, above, and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and have good hand and finger dexterity.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job may include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- A willingness to be available after hours and with unpredictable work schedules that include travel requirements (up to 50%).
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably within the energy storage or renewable energy sector.
- Strong understanding of battery systems, particularly iron flow batteries, and energy storage technologies.
- Experience with monitoring and management software/tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working in a Network Operating Center (NOC) or similar operational environment.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and protocols.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems and grid integration.
- Certifications related to network operations or system performance management.
