Job Description

The Financial Aid Coordinator provides a wealth of financial aid knowledge to students and families for federal, state, and institutional programs in accordance with all applicable rules and regulations. The person on this position is responsible for providing superb customer service to students and their families as well as inter-departmental groups. The person in this position will have primary responsibility of providing administrative support and report directly to the Director and Assistant Director of Financial Aid.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma required with one to two (1-2) years of experience in an office or administrative position.
  • Associate's Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in computer data entry.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel.
  • Prior experience operating office equipment in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passionate about the Customer/Student Service experience.
  • Positive, approachable, collaborative personality.
  • Excellent attention to detail and follow-up.
RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
  1. Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor through verbal, written, and electronic communication with students, parents, faculty, and staff, while giving accurate feedback within the FERPA guidelines.
  2. Counsels and assists students with all necessary forms for enrollment and financial assistance.
  3. Assist students/parents with completion of FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).
  4. Assist with the verification process by collecting verification documents, ensures all appropriate signatures are obtained, collects verification worksheets, tax returns and W-2 forms if applicable and secures dependency documentation, if applicable.
  5. Assists at recruitment, retention, and community events.
  6. Assists with collection of financial aid application documents and seek eligibility status for federal, state, and institutional programs.
  7. Assists with completing, distributing, and collecting signed federal work-study authorization forms, if applicable.
  8. Assist students by providing information on the Pell and Loan procedures.
  9. Cancel multiple enrollments in SFP using SFP, Campus Key, Notepad++, HTML Formatter, and Postman.
  10. Perform other duties as be assigned by the Director of Financial Aid or other college administrators.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Experience using technology including email, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and Internet use.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and work as part of a team.
  • Must be a "quick study" to quickly grasp and retain knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize.
  • Demonstrate oral and written communication skills to interact with a wide range of diverse individuals.
  • Flexible schedule is required to meet department needs, as some evenings, weekends, and extended hours may be required.

  • Stand, walk, stoop, or kneel
  • Occasionally lift and/or move items of at least 15-20 pounds
