Controls Engineer
We are seeking a few Controls Engineer to join our growing Automation business unit. Our Controls Engineers create hardware designs and PLC programs that control our automation equipment.
There are three defined levels for our Controls Engineers, with progressive levels of responsibility and requirements. Controls Engineer I is where you will work in the beginning stages of your career. Controls Engineer II is for Mid-Level engineers and Controls Engineer III is our Senior-Level Professionals. As a Controls Engineer I you will be responsible for:
- Troubleshooting PLC, HMI Programs, wiring and pneumatic circuits
- Building ladder logic programs (use Standard templates to develop PLC Programs)
- Path program robots
- Attending Fanuc robot training.
- Assisting other Engineers
- Bachelor degree in Engineering or 5 years working knowledge in a related field.
- Understand basic electrical concepts, and automation
- Willingness to learn from senior team members
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical
- Basic knowledge of Rockwell Software's (Studio5000, FT View ME)
- Design electrical schematics in AutoCAD electrical
- Create PLC / HMI using Customer specifications
- Ability to Path Program 1 or more robot platforms
- Define I/O structure for PLC / Robots
- Troubleshoot and start-up controls systems
- Lead and mentor other controls, robotic & build personnel
- Perform basic electrical and pneumatic calculations
- Create new standards and templates for PLC / HMI programming
- Define, design & program motion controls systems
- 3+ years' working experience in the automation field as a Controls engineer
- Knowledge of Studio5000, FT View, Fanuc, ABB, AutoCAD Electrical
- Siemens, Omron, E-Plan, GE skills are beneficial
- Design controls systems (electrical schematics, software, pneumatic)
- Peripheral device programming
- Program and design using customer specifications
- Support, lead and mentor personnel in all departments, positive and encouraging
- Assist with management of controls department
- Manage work flow of others within department
- Create new Standards for department
- Ability to develop new PLC / HMI / Vision Systems on multiple control platforms
- Assist Program Management with budget and timing
- Manage outsource contracts
- Travel to customer locations for installs 20-40% of your time
- 7+ years working as a Controls Engineer in the automation industry
- Knowledge of Studio5000, FT View, Fanuc, ABB, AutoCAD Electrical
- Siemens, Omron, E-Plan, GE skills are beneficial
- Proficiency in developing data tracking systems (MES, SCADA, Andon)
- Experience with customer site installations
