We are seeking an experienced, self-motivated Tool & Die Engineer for a position in our Semi Stamping Operations Team, a team focused on producing the high-quality stamped metal components for our Semi Truck. The successful candidate will have extensive theoretical and hands-on experience in all facets of various stamping technologies & die design, as well as experience managing new product introductions, equipment modification projects (new installations) and process optimization, upgrades & modifications. This position will reside in our new Semi Manufacturing Factory in Sparks, NV and will have a direct impact and responsibility for the quality level of the vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality stamping dies and processes that meet the production, part quality and cost goals of the Semi program
  • Support Semi Design Engineers through part and assembly DFM studies
  • Provide technical direction on tool & equipment design & build
  • Manages all aspects of tool development for in-house stamping operations, including: Project planning; Technical specifications for RFQ generation; Supplied Services performance of tool design analysis and approval/buy-off; Trials and tuning at the tool shop and on the home line; Reporting to company stakeholders on progress and issues; Issue resolution
  • Resolve complex part formability issues using die compensation strategies in order to achieve styling, quality and production goals
  • Lead tooling design and quality standards creation
  • Provide project related direction to technicians and stamping plant personnel qualifications
Requirements
  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience buying off dies for construction quality and part accuracy; Demonstrated experience managing international tool and die suppliers to meet project goals; Experience creating Die operation layouts
  • Strong, demonstrated interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with diverse teams of engineers and management
  • Good understanding of material properties for steel & aluminum
  • Able to perform 3-D modeling and surfacing using CATIA; Completion of GD&T training course by certified instructor
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical control systems
  • Experienced user of sheet metal formability simulation software
  • Experience applying statistical analysis to improve product quality and/or production results
