Job Description
Missouri Western State University invites candidates for the Director of Student Recruitment position in the Department of Admissions. The Director of Student Recruitment is a role that requires an attentive, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly collaborative leader. Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President; the Director plays a critical role in the University's recruitment of prospective students, building relationships within high schools, and engaging with students and their families. S/he will participate in planning and directing the University's strategic enrollment management plan and ensure that the tactics align with program needs to grow a robust student body.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President; the Director plays a critical role in the University's recruitment of prospective students, building relationships within high schools, and engaging with students and their families. S/he will participate in planning and directing the University's strategic enrollment management plan and ensure that the tactics align with program needs to grow a robust student body.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Assistant Director of Admissions for Student Recruiting and team of recruiting coordinators
- Assistant Director of Transfer and Graduate Recruiting and team of recruiting coordinators
- Plan and co-direct the university-wide strategic enrollment management plan; develop and implement recruitment strategies that reflects MWSU's commitment to applied learning and program growth.
- Lead and mentor a diverse team of enrollment professionals, fostering an environment of professional growth, inclusivity, and excellence.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff and community partners to enhance recruitment efforts and community engagement. Engage with local and regional communities to establish MWSU as a leader in education, social mobility, and community development.
- Utilize data and technology to inform and refine recruitment strategies, ensuring alignment with MWSU goals and values. Facilitate advancing prospective students through the enrollment funnel.
- Build relationships with primary and secondary market high schools, school districts and community colleges, to establish sustained partnerships and build student pipelines. Expand outreach to tertiary markets.
- Establish and execute targeted outreach efforts with Articulation Agreements and Memorandum of Understandings and manage these relationships.
- Develop graduate student recruitment plans and enhance interest in professional degree and certificate programs; collaborate with academic department graduate program directors and facilitate required tasks and calls to action.
- (Co)Lead recruitment meetings and activities; including presenting to MWSU prospective students and families, presenting recruitment efforts to faculty and staff, identify departmental needs and participation in recruitment efforts, and communicating and executing recruitment teams plans and strategies.
- Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of workings of university structure, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of technology relevant to recruitment activities
- Leadership, supervision, planning and organization skills including team building, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement
- Effective communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively
- Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies across the University and the community
- Ability to operate independently and collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy while adhering to tight deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook) and Google Workspace tools.
- Bachelor's degree
- Five years of related experience in higher education recruitment, admissions or enrollment management.
- Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Valid Driver's License
- Two years of progressively responsible leadership in enrollment management or administration
- Experience with Ellucian Banner
- Experience with Slate CRM
