As an Development Engineering Technician you will play a crucial role in the development, assembly, and test of lunar rovers. You will support research and development as well as new product introduction to production.
What You'll Do
- Support avionics, mechanical assembly, R&D jobs, field testing campaigns, and flight hardware campaigns.
- Set up data acquisition systems and control systems for test assets
- Document first time build and test processes
- Perform component and assembly troubleshooting
- Support the development, design, and build of development assets, test assets, and production equipment
- Perform equipment and facilities preventative maintenance
- Champion 5S and best-in-class safety practices across all areas of the business
- Use precision calibrated tools such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, crimpers, etc.
- Use of instrumentation and sensors including power supplies, oscilloscopes, accelerometers, thermocouples, RTDs, etc.
- Read and interpret technical drawings and other technical documentation
- Support on-site and off-site vehicle testing
- Train and mentor new technicians and engineers to ensure flow-down of best practices
- Lead critical lift operations
- Support non-flight vehicles and assets during off-site conferences and events
- Development of internal design and construction specification
- Flight hardware testing
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure producibility of avionics designs, mechanical designs, and design of integrated assemblies.
- Associates degree or 5+ years' of development build and test experience
- 5+ years of experience working in production, R&D, or test operation environments
- Strong and demonstrated understanding of avionics box and harnessing fabrication, repair, rework, and assembly fundamentals
- Proficient in electrical and electromechanical assembly and troubleshooting
- Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T
- Outstanding communication and written documentation skills including use of Microsoft suite products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
- Ability to work autonomously and determine work priorities to optimize productivity of yourself and the organization
- Ability to succeed in a lean, dynamic, and growing startup environment
- Preference to candidates who are certified in IPC-J-STD-001, IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD 8739.4, and NASA-STD 8739.5.
- Preference to candidates with proficiency in Rapid harness or Altium.
- Preference to candidates with experience working in a cleanroom environment
- Preference to candidates with experience leading an operational team of technicians and/or mechanics (e.g. production, test, military, job shop)
- Must be able and willing to periodically travel (i.e. field testing events)
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
