POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Operations is responsible for the performance of the entire assigned territory of Brand Restaurants. The DO is directly responsible for overseeing a group of Districts within multiple Regions, generally with District Managers as direct reports. This role also includes direct reports of any assigned Regional Directors. This role ensures strong leadership, accountability, and daily oversight of direct reports to ensure field leaders are executing their key job responsibilities and meeting expectations in all areas of their job descriptions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, multitasking and organizational skills including a positive attitude, a strong work ethic and the ultimate passion for excellence in hospitality. Internal Posting Only. KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are areas of performance in which the Director of Operations must be successful to meet their accountabilities: Represents Seaside Dining Group Vision, Mission, Service Culture, and Principles. Drives sales and guest count growth while ensuring controllable costs are within specified goals to ensure maximum profit for assigned geographic area; does so by: Building and following up on robust and consistent operations systems to ensure the region operates world-class restaurants 24 hours, 7 days per week. Encouraging Regional Directors, District Managers, and Store Managers to promote their Restaurant through community involvement activities and coaching District Managers to develop and execute their marketing plans and set sales goals. Coaching and following up with District Managers to ensure Seaside Dining Group Brand Standards, policies and procedures, all health codes and other regulatory requirements, and employment laws. Interprets financial and operational reports, analyzes, and identifies gaps in operational performance (including balanced scorecard and other published reports) and develops and successfully implements solutions to ensure operating goals are achieved. Communicates the company’s objectives to the company’s District Managers, management teams, and leads the annual area planning process by aligning area goals with the corporate strategic annual operating plan. Supports & provides guidance to the District Manager’s Recruitment, Hiring, and Training Plan for his/her Restaurant Management Teams. Ensures the District Manager proactively executes succession planning for future management needs. Coaches District Managers on talent assessment within their Districts and Restaurants. Reinforces and coaches management teams via periodic DO restaurant visits to ensure a world-class service and hospitality focused environment and culture for our guests and employees. Assumes accountability for the District Managers performance; coaches District Managers to ensure effective management routines and operating systems within each of their districts; addresses performance issues quickly; provides ongoing coaching and development. Continuously works to improve the skills, knowledge and morale of District Managers and their support teams. Works through the District Manager to ensure all employees receive the necessary training to perform their duties including overseeing the comprehensive training program for the company. Maximizes financial performance and profit. Attends training to remain current on industry trends. Performs other duties and/or special projects as assigned by the Vice President of Operations in response to changing business conditions and/or requirements. Actively engages in Management recruitment systems, staffing plans, and succession planning. Ability to coach region on marketing strategies to drive sales. Ability to work closely with Human Resources Manager to resolve problems. All other tasks and duties as assigned. Planning and Execution:
Developing strategic and operational plans for the workgroup, managing execution, and measuring results: Creates district implementation plans to support the execution of regional and company initiatives to achieve both operational excellence and business results. Follows up consistently to ensure accountability to plans. Utilizes existing tools to identify and prioritize communications and filters communications to the store management team within the district. Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately to ensure effective operations at the store and district level. Business Requirements:
Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities: Accesses external resources to support district-wide operations and to execute district and regional initiatives such as Partner Resources, Marketing, Partner & Asset Protection, Finance, Real Estate, and Store Development. Ensures adherence to applicable wage and hour laws for nonexempt partners and minors. Solicits customer feedback to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community. Utilizes management information tools and analyzes financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in district performance. Partner Development & Team Building:
Providing partners with coaching, feedback, and developmental opportunities and building effective teams: Challenges and inspires partners to achieve business results. Develops and maintains positive relationships with partners in the district by understanding and addressing individual motivation, needs, and concerns. Ensures partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements. Manages the district-wide store management team by regularly conducting performance assessments, providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve partner performance. Manages ongoing partner performance using performance management tools to support organizational objectives. Recognizes and reinforces individual and team accomplishments by using existing organizational tools and programs as well as by finding new, creative, and effective methods of recognition. Utilizes and demonstrates effective management principles and practices to create and maintain a successful team of store managers, resulting in an environment where partners are valued and respected. Qualifications Director of Operations:
Progressively responsible retail experience (5 years). District Manager or equivalent level position (3 years). Experience analyzing financial reports. Experience in a complex, fast-paced environment. Experience in a multi-unit environment. Retail management experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to manage the overall operations of multiple stores independently. Knowledge of retail or restaurant industry operations. Organization and planning skills. Strong operational skills in a customer-service environment. Supervisory skills. Team-building skills. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to build relationships. Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information. Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk approximately 85%-95% of shift; ability to lift and carry 10-65 lbs; ability to move freely throughout the restaurant; ability to operate restaurant equipment and drive a motor vehicle. REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION:
