This is a contract job opportunity with potential for permanent placement. Location: Boston, MA (Tremont Street) Projected Duration: 3 months + potential for permanent placement Job Code: CVDJP00030328 Benefits: Benefits are available Position Type: Float position for Medford, Boston, Quincy areas. Requires a clean driving record. Position Responsibilities: Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, and centrifuging specimens. Recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc. Collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures. Properly explaining the process of venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal) as required. Demonstrating techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Understanding all of the physicians' orders. Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required by test order. Checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correctness. Packaging specimens for transport. Storing specimen samples according to required temperature and placing samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes. Accurately labeling and following procedures outlined by specific protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity. Understanding and complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attending annual department trainings. Answering telephone calls and reading laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Qualifications: Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
